The “I’m ashamed of my country” line was so distracting it took me out of the movie for 5 minutes. And the California comment was ridiculous. I googled “woke Little Women” and this came up. Thank you.
Thank you for this post. I’ve read the book a few times, seen several movie versions, and was excited to hear there was a new one-till I started seeing previews and realized what it would be. While I appreciate the desire to celebrate strong female characters, this story has done that since its inception, and the ‘political pandering & shameless propagandizing’ we see more and more of these days is just unnecessary. Little Women was plenty woke before Greta Gerwig got ahold of it.
