It isn’t Pretty, but it Works!

As I woke up from surgery, I kept it to myself. With my eyes shut, I couldn’t assess them other than from their voices which were not particularly soothing. Two women reviewed with each other their bitter feelings about men. Eventually they realized I was reviving and seemlessly transitioned back into nurses well enough that my fears passed.

The surgery room was stark. Cold, with concrete walls. This makes perfect sense considering its purely utilitarian purpose on behalf of anesthetized patients.

I thought about that place as I restored the lighting to my photo studio tonight in preparation for a needed shoot. Though it is not as stark as an operating room, it gets few points for ambiance. Lights had been moved to the patio for summer shoots, but now the warmth of indoors makes the small room better. The camera has a revenous need for illumination.

Along the walls and in corners are found parts an exotic British car whose body awaits renewal just outside. Windscreen. Dashboard. Radiator. seats and gas tanks. A center console. It makes the room seem a bit stark, like the operating room, especially with the extra lights.

But in this utilitarian room there won’t be trash talk. There’s a good history of these photo shoots actually being fun for everyone involved and I attribute that partly to my recollection of how the conversation affects the environment : )
