I’m still without a website because I switched to a better format but have to build the site myself. That’s on today’s plate.
The new site will allow for scheduling photography and initiating the commission process for art. It will have the expected galleries, how-to instructions pertaining to art production, print sales, and the associated blog and other pertinent information pages including pricing.
For my own art, I’ve adjusted to smaller works. For the past eight years, I figured the bigger the better. That’s why this one is six feet wide. This, by the way, is the first decent photo I’ve been able to get of it. The struggle has been with lighting. Today, I took it outside in the yard. One shot was taken with sun from the side. Another shot was taken with the canvas turned just enough out of the sun that it’s all in shadow. The idea was to see which photographed better considering the texture of the linen. Cotton canvas is more regular in it’s surface patterns, being largely just a weave with a few little knots in the string. Linen looks to me like it’s full of irregularities and tiny bumps.
Now I’m downsizing. Smaller canvases are plenty beautiful, and their day has finally come. Last night I did the second session on this painting of Leah:
I have not resolved the background, painted detail into the violin, finished the dress, or painted detail into her top. Colors will change. This is just a base layer.
