Thank goodness for the lunch break. It gives me a chance to write of the latest challenge with Leah! The first was poetry and when I can get the photos off my phone to post, I’ll show you what I came up with.
We challenge each other to meet the conditions of the assignment. That first one went nicely enough that Leah suggested we do another. This time we did a drawing. Knowing that she was trying to figure out how to address the sketching of necks, I assigned her to do three cartoons featuring necks.
She challenged me to do a cartoon panel about family, chores, work with at least three characters.
Last night I nearly went to bed without following through, but I stayed up and did the deed.
Because cartooning is not my area of expertise, when I came up with a concept that amused me I looked to other cartoonists to know how to represent faces of horror then copied the style. I was up against a deadline and it was a personal cartoon. I drew it on a sketch pad, then photographed it, then finished in photoshop.
