I’m a fan of sourdough, especially for pancakes. It’s very good with some maple syrup (not maple flavored – REAL tree sap) and with a little jam and some butter. Yum!
Well, I was finishing the batter and there was room on the griddle as long as I joined two little pancakes.
I ran out of syrup so I grabbed the jam. That was nearly finished too, but I smeared what was left in the center of the pancake, bright red with clots of fruit. At that moment it looked like a feminine pad. To get past that I rolled it up but that wasn’t enough.
A trip to the store that has the real syrup that I want just hasn’t materialized, so I got a substitute. Now I have syrup but no jam.
Now I’m sticking to round pancakes. Good thing I deleted the photos of the padcake or I’d have posted it. It would have looked like this:
Oh, wait – this IS the padcake! Don’t look!
Here is the stop gap syrup until I can get it where I usually go. When I empty it, I think I’ll keep the glass and keep filling it from the jug.
