Abutment Continues

For a sheathed cable to work, it has to have the outer sheath restrained at each end. This is called an abutment and I thought I had a good idea to build a replacement for my broken one.

Not so though. The thin walled tube is too thin. I wasted the time. Might be able to salvage it though.

The drivers sides seat will not slide off the rails for removal because someone modified the wheel well and the way it has to be done now is remove the bolts from the floor and pull it out that way. I need to do this to figure out how this abutment part is anchored and then I’ll know how to finish this thing that I built to fix the cable problem. I thought the car would be finished and driveable.

I thought wrong.

Last week I was paying attention to J.C. Leyendecker art. This week it’s more Dean Cornwell.

As usual I’m behind on everything.

And I really am the last person to comfort grieving people it seems. Too matter of fact. Adept at saying all the wrong things. This has to be fixed. Poor lady’s mom got stuck in her car for an hour or so and got all bruised up and now has memory problems.

I don’t set out to be a dolt in those situations but still, I haven’t mastered the art of comforting worriers.
