It appears that my Type 54 Lotus front suspension has been altered by a previous owner so that the parts are Triumph GT6 components.
This explains why my outer bearing set didn’t fit. I noticed that the Golden Gate Lotus Club parts cross reference mentioned both Spitfire and GT6 and thought that meant they were interchangeable. They’re not.
One would expect Spitfire parts. I got this list From Tim Engel which is handy because it has actual numbers and meaningful references:
Europa with GT6 Upright & Brake “Upgrade” for Autocross/ Motorsports
Elan & Elan +2 with Knock-off wheels.
Elite & Eclat (NOT Sprint),
Esprit Turbo, Pre-1985 with lower Trunnion.
