Larissa is dipping her beautiful hair in the pool. One of my favorite paintings of late!
I have had another painting on this panel for decades. With no intent to ever sell it, I sanded, sealed, and primed the old work.
This panel comes from my prior days of poverty and was made from a masonite white board that I caulked (probably with acrylic) to smooth the edges. The caulk showed no sign of aging, so I kept it. Both sides of the panel have multiple coats of sealer then paint so as to eliminate warpage.
The outer frame is painted in oils like all the rest, but one coat used poppy seed oil. That stuff dries way way too slow. The main medium in this gem has been Liquin Thin. Early layers were sansodor washes.
The stone and glass pool is a way to be consistent. Larissa is the center of this concept and she’s one who is solid in character and beautiful. So the other components are the same.
As always, the ultra fine holographic glitter on the stones is better in real life than in a photo. There is finer detail in the foliage than this shows. And in the actual painting, the signature block is on the lower right.
Yipes! I just noticed I have another session to do to finish the hair behind her ear.
