This post isn’t actually about wildflowers or transplanting, but they serve as a similar idea for illustration sake.
I wrote a little story on index cards then bound the pages, made a cover, and showed it off.
The story was cute and the book was fun.
I decided this would be a good one to create a more polished version of and Larissa modeled the panels in a photo shoot.
What I found was that like a wildflower that works best right where it is, the little book works best the way I originally created it.
The intended for publication version just didn’t have the same charm.
Larissa came through, but my idea sketches just seem more fresh. I think it’s because I’m less a cartoonist and more a fine arts type.
The original sketch work was quite approachable.
