I’m late but don’t want to waste the seed so I have been working in the yards to prepare for flowers and garden.
This year I will only do a few food plants. Beans, vine plants like squash or melons, peppers and tomatoes. Most of the space is going to flowers. Maybe I should put some potatoes out there too.
The grapes are enthused. I let a couple of vines grow into the neighbors cherry tree as agreed so they will get some fruit.
The berries look very promising except that the neighbor finally figured out that he waters, I harvest. There are three places along the back fence where the berries were good producers, but the stem originates on the other side. A few months ago, those were killed by someone.
The apple tree will not produce apples this year but it’s looking very good otherwise.
I rototilled the garden, raked it, and pulled out the debris. I raked smooth a swath the length of it up against the grass. Then I got it good and soggy. Then seeds. Then a cover layer of soil. Then water. Then more cover layer. Then more water. Then a little more cover dirt.
The fig tree appears to be a charity project to feed wild birds. Dang creatures!
Then I went in the front yard and prepared three beds and seeded those. I hope this works!
